After almost a month of its launch in China, Nubia has finally released the Red Magic 3 in India. This is the company’s second gaming smartphone in the country after the Red Magic that was launched late last year. The Red Magic 3 starts from Rs 35,999 and comes with at least 8GB RAM as standard. The gaming phone will be available on Flipkart exclusively along with several financial benefits.
The Red Magic 3 joins the BlackShark 2 in India as this year’s second gaming smartphone. However, the Red Magic 3 boasts of some exclusive gaming centric features that the BlackShark 2 lacks. Apart from the BlackShark 2, the Red Magic 3 also directly competes with other premium smartphones launched recently such as the OnePlus 7, Honor 20 and Oppo Reno.
Similar to its predecessor, the Red Magic 3 is smartphone purpose-built for gaming and you can figure out that through its specifications list. The Red Magic 3 gets the Snapdragon 855 chipset that’s used by many other flagship smartphones in 2019. However, Nubia has built custom cooling solutions to ensure steady peak performance. The Red Magic 3 gets a combination of a liquid-cooling system and a fan-based cooling system. Like gaming laptops, this smartphone has heat vents to manage the temperatures.
Other than that, the Red Magic 3 also features two capacitive shoulder buttons that can be customised for each game. Nubia also has dedicated accessories to enhance the gaming experience, which can be docked using the proprietary Pogo-pins dock. The Red Magic 3 also comes with a headphone jack, if you were wondering.
Nubia has used a 6.65-inch OLED display with curved corners and small bezels. The screen has a refresh rate of 90Hz, which is similar to that of the recently launched OnePlus 7 Pro. The phone runs on a stock version of Android 9 Pie and comes with Nubia’ Game Space launcher installed. The latter provides a more gaming focused experience and provides players with options to control the fan, the RGB LED lighting and monitor other aspects of the phone while playing games.
Nubia hasn’t forgotten about the cameras. At the back, there’s a single 48-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX586 sensor while there’s a 16-megapixel camera catering to selfies at the front. The phone is powered by a 5000mAh battery that comes with support for 27W fast charging.
The base variant of the Red Magic 3 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage comes at Rs 35,999 while the 12GB variant with 256GB storage costs Rs 46,999.
